Fiona Apple - Fast As You Can

Young, female, American, singer/songwriter Fiona Apple is not another follower of Britney Spears, nor is she a wannabe Alanis Morrisette. Although she has been compared to the latter a lot more, her lyrics aren't as much like "I want to kill my boyfriend" kind of thing. She broke into the American scene a couple of years ago with her super smash hit "Criminal". Going highly un-noticed here, she is back with "Fast As You Can", a jazzy number with fantastic bass and piano. She also releases her 2nd album "When The Pawn..." this month, housing a much more mature Finoa Apple. "Fast As You Can" is a great track and it will do well. However, knowing the British music scene, I feel that her impact will only affect the adult music lovers, rather than the 'very large, where all the money comes from' teeny boppers.

Melanie C - Never Be The Same

The Spice Girl with the best voice releases the third single from her "Northern Star" album. On this track, she has Lisa 'Left-Eye' Lopez from TLC rapping, bridging the gap between our music scene and the US. Good idea as it helps promote Mel C in the US and TLC in the UK. As for the track itself....good. All the songs Mel C has released are all very different from eachother, keeping the fans interested. Mixing pop with alternative with rap, plus giving it that 'dreamy' feeling(as heard in the new All Saints song, Pure Shores), this will definetly do well, and will take Mel C's solo career straight to the US.

No Doubt - Ex-Girlfriend

No Doubt are back with a new single, Ex-Girlfriend. The follow-up to 'New', this is a great song, which sounds kind of similar to the latter. This is one of the songs No Doubt performed at MTV's Millenium party and it managed to get great feedback. Not sure how us Brits will see it, but its best to wait and see.

'N Sync - Bye Bye Bye

After months of legal action, 'N Sync return to the UK with 'Bye Bye Bye', taken from their brand new album. 'N Sync have always been guys with great voices and great songs, and this one is no exception. This track doesn't really sound anything like their previous songs, so it is very original. Lots of promotion is to come with this release. Could this be their first number one?
