January 23rd: Britney Spears has taken this weeks number one single with her slow, romatic number "Born To Make You Happy". It is the 18 year old's fourth release from her multi-platinum selling album "Baby, One More Time". Last weeks number one was the Manic Street Preachers.

January 18th: The results are in from this year's American Music Awards. Unusually, no one artist swept the board, as in recent years. Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Santana and Ricky Martin, all walked away with one award each. The awards, which are voted for by the public, are the second biggest music ceremony in America to next month's Grammys.

January 17th: The Manic Street Preachers got the number one single yesterday with "The Masses Against The Classes". The Manics, with their huge fanbase, managed to get to the top spot with no promotion at all for the song. Talking on Capital FM, the band said that they decided not to make a video or promote it at all. They managed to knock Westlife off the top, sending them down to number 5.

January 11th: MusicNet now has all the nominations for the two major music awards shows in the USA. The Grammy Awards are set to take place on February 23rd. Check out Grammys.com for information on all the performers and presenters. The other big awards show is the American Music Awards, set to take place on the 17th of January.
